Indonesia's strategic position has also provided the potential for Indonesia in influencing political and economic stability in the region, and taking leadership in the sustainable ocean development. Nevertheless, these needs alignment with its current threats and future challenges, including coastal and natural resource degradation, climate change, and ocean pollution. A sustainable and prosperous ocean economy could contribute to higher revenue from ocean-based activities that could channel back into ocean conservation, encourage sustainable livelihoods for coastal communities, and preserve ocean biodiversity with a recovering ocean and coastal ecosystem.
